There’s a lot of choices when it comes to picking your herb grinder. If you want the best possible smoking experience then choosing the best weed grinder on the market is going to play a big part towards crafting that perfect joint.
The best herb grinders are also the safe, non-toxic grinders. You don’t want to buy the cheap plastic grinders at your local gas station. The best herb grinders are found online where you’ll also get the cheapest deals. When it comes to getting the best marijuana grinder you get what you pay for. I recommend spending a little extra and getting a grinder that’ll not only give you an amazing smoking experience, but last for a long time, and believe me, the best grinders do last for years.
Space Case Herb Grinder Review
The space case is the best cannabis grinder on the market tody. It is without a doubt the best way to grind weed. It’s the herb grinder of choice for the most experienced smokers. It’s 100% American made from aerospace grade aluminium, with a coating of titanium so it lasts for decades.
It is one of the most expensive herb grinders, but in the long run it’ll actually work out cheaper because it’ll last you a lifetime thanks to the titanium coating and super high quality build. I’ve had my space case weed grinder for years and it’s been through a lot of abuse, being dropped countless times, yet it’s still in great shape. It still basically looks like new.
This weed grinder feels absolutely great to use. It grinds up your bud into a lovely soft, smooth, consistent powder ready to be sprinkled on your joints. It has super sharp, diamond shaped teeth which will grind up even a moist bud. This is the sharpest of all the grinders and turns your bud into a soft powder that burns REALLY well. Since it burns so well you’ll get the maximum high from each joint. There’s a reason the space case is known as the best herb grinder in the world.
It’s a the best 4 piece grinder and the best way to collect kief from your pot. The kief catcher has a little pick you can use to scrape all your kief out when you’re ready to use some of that wonderful crystal to give your joints a boost.
The space case really is the best weed grinder brand and if you want to own the very best weed grinder on the market that’ll make your friends jealous of your awesomeness then the space case is the one for you.

Sharpstone Herb Grinder Review
The Sharpstone weed grinder is a really solid piece of equipment and fantastic value for money. It’s the best weed grinder if you want a proper grinder, but are on a tighter budget. It’s way better than a cheap $5 plastic grinder, but at only $20-$25, it’s a real bargain.
Material wise, it’s made of a very high quality aluminium and it has stainless steel screens and of course comes with magnetic lids, which will help keep your bud extra safe. There’s nothing worse than accidentally dropping your precious kief all over the floor after bumping the table when baked!
While the Sharpstone weed grinder won’t last quite as long as the Space Case grinder, it’s still a solid build quality and I’ve had mine for 4 years now. The teeth are still nice and sharp and it continues to grind up bud into a nice even powder every time I use it.
It has a really good screen for catching your kief, pollen and other potent bits of the bud. The Sharpstone pot grinder also comes with a Cali Crusher Press which will allow you to compress your kief into little hash discs to make them easier to use.

Golden Gate Grinder 2.5 Inch Review
The third best grinder for weed on my top 4 list is the golden gate grinder. It’s a high quality 4 piece grinder made of anodized aluminium with sift pollen. As with all the other top grinders there’s no plastic parts, which makes it completely safe. It’s got 49 extra sharp metal teeth for pummeling your sticky buds into a consistent fine powder, ready to be rolled up and smoked.
It’s really heavy duty and has magnets to keep each compartment locked together safely to prevent any spills or leaks. I really enjoy grinding with this weed grinder. It feels nice and smooth. I can’t explain it, there’s just something very satisfying about it. You’ll have to try it to see what I mean.
It comes with a kief catcher so you can keep all that lovely kief for later use. It’s also great for storing your bud as it’s air-tight, keeps your pot fresh and you won’t be able to smell anything when it’s sealed up.

Cali Crusher Herb Grinder Review
This weed grinder deserves a mention on the best of page. Like the Space Case and Sharpstone, it’s a high quality durable grinder. It’s not as durable as the Space Case and not as good value as the Sharpstone, but what makes the Cali Crusher unique is its innovative design which is not only visually stunning, but super easy to clean.
It comes in different models, from a 2 piece grinder up to a 4 piece grinder. I’d strongly recommend going for the 4 piece. Being able to catch your kief is essential. I personally would never waste money on a 2 piece grinder.
I love the different colors the cali crusher comes in. It’s got matt black, purple, blue, red, green and more. There’s something special about watching your bud fall through as you grind it up and get ready for your next joint. This is one grinder that will definitely impress your friends. If that’s your thing.
It’s a medium sized grinder and mine has lasted for a few years without much in the way of wear and tear. It’s a tiny bit worn, and you can see it’s older, but the teeth are still super sharp and it does the job of grinding up my bud just as well as it did when I first got it. It’s not in my top 3, but it just looks so cool and if you love the design on this herb grinder as much as I do then it’ll be a great little buy for you.

Herb Grinder Buyers Guide
A good grinder will be able to grind up pretty much any herb from marijuana, weed, pot, tobacco into a nice soft consistent powder. A grinder will have jagged teeth that grind up your herbs when you turn the device. The best herb grinders are made of metal, specifically aluminium. Without a good grinder you’ll have to break up your herbs by hand, which is a very inefficient way to smoke them since you’ll get big lumps that won’t burn well.
By using a cannabis grinder you’ll produce ground up herbs that will give you the ultimate smoke. Most of good grinders will last a very long time so it’s definitely worth spending the extra money to get the best grinder you can afford.
There’s a few things to keep in mind when deciding on your grinder. Every single grinder I’ve reviewed on this site is a high quality grinder and you can’t go wrong picking any, especially those in the top 3 best grinders. However, here’s a few things to look for in general when choosing your herb grinder.
Choosing Your Best Grinder
Build Quality: A good grinder should last for years, if not decades. For this reason I only review and recommend people buy aluminium weed grinders.
Grind Results: We want a consistent, smooth powder when we grind our herbs up. The teeth should be evenly placed and sharp. All the grinders I’ve reviewed for you here on the weed grinder shop have got the teeth positioned at the best possible place to give an even grind.
Price: Grinders range in price from $5 up to about $100. You really do get what you pay for like most things in life. Avoid anything under $20. The more expensive grinders tend to last a lot longer, have multiple compartments and a kief catcher. There’s usually some good deals you can find throughout my site for getting $60+ grinders for $20-$40, so check around for the best herb grinder prices.
What’s My Herb Grinder Made of
Grinders are made of different materials. I always recommend buying a metal grinder, but it’s good to know of the various options available to you.
Metal Grinders: These are the best grinders by a long way. They’re non-toxic and they last for a very long time. They usually come in aluminium and are super strong as well as looking very cool. The ultimate smoker’s companion.
Wood Grinders: I’ve tried a couple of wood grinders and if I’m completely honest with you, they suck beyond belief. They do a terrible job at grinding up bud. Avoid.
Plastic Grinders: These are your standard weed grinders you’ll find all over the place. They do an average job at drinking up bud, but don’t last long and some of the cheaper models can be potentially toxic. You don’t want to be smoking bits of plastic, do you?
Crank Grinders: These are grinders with a crank on them that you can turn to grind up your pot. Pretty useless and awkward to use. I don’t recommend you bother with these. Why would you when you can get an amazing aluminium grinder like the SharpStone.
Electric: These are an interesting type of grinder, but I’m afraid to say they’re completely unnecessary. It’s not hard to grind up bud and having it done automatically takes away that special feeling of hand grinding and rolling your joint.
Different Models of Weed Grinders
Herb grinders come in three main types. Single compartment, dual compartment and triple compartment.
Single Compartment – Two Piece Grinders: These are the most basic of grinders. They come in 2 pieces, with one single compartment. You put your bud in, grind and then open it up and shake it out. No kief with these and you end up with big chunky bits. I’d avoid these, they’re just not worth it.
Dual Compartment – Three Piece Grinders: The three piece grinders have a chamber underneath that collects the bud through lots of small holes in the grinding compartment. A bit better than a two piece grinder, but you still won’t get any kief, and why wouldn’t you want kief. Better than nothing, and better than a two-piece, but I don’t recommend these when you can buy a four piece grinder.
Tri Compartment – Four Piece Grinders – Ultimate Grinder: These are the grinders you want for maximum smoking experience. Three compartments, put your weed in the first, grind, get your bud in compartment 2 all smooth and consistent and get your kief in the bottom chamber. All the grinders I review are 4 piece, so if you buy through my site, you’re going to be happy!
How to Collect and Use Kief
Quite simply the best way to collect kief is making sure you’ve purchased a 4 piece grinder that comes with a kief catcher, which every single 4 piece grinder I’ve reviewed here at the WeedGrinderShop will come with. When you grind up your bud, the crystals will fall through the middle layer of the grinder into the bottom compartment where over time it’ll build up until you have enough to use some kief.
But how much kief should you use, how often should you use it and how exactly DO you use it I hear you ask. Well, it obviously depends entirely how much sticky buds you’re grinding up on a daily basis 🙂 Each large bud should get you just a little bit of kief to give your last joint per bud that little extra kick. That’s how I like to use my kief, just using little bits to top-up some of my joints.
If you have patience though, and you really want to have some fun, then you can save up a whole quarter ounce worth of kief and make a super-joint. If you’re going to do this make sure you don’t smoke a pure kief joint, as kief doesn’t burn that well and you’ll actually waste it! I recommend about 50% kief, 50% freshly ground up buds for your super kief joints.
Cleaning Your Weed Grinder
When you first get any new grinder it’s a good idea to clean it before you use it. You’ll need to get some isopropyl alcohol and q-tips for this. You can get the isopropyl from any DIY type store.
So first of all, take your herb grinder apart and make sure there are no loose bits of metal/materials left. If there is, just shake them out and discard. Next, dip the q-tip head in the isopropyl alcohol. Don’t pour the alcohol on the grinder. It won’t damage it, but it’s not necessary and it’ll just get a bit messy. Use your dipped q-tip to clean all through the grinder bits, paying careful attention to the teeth. Once you’ve given it a good clean, just let the rest of the isopropyl evaporate before using your grinder for the first time.
You won’t need to clean your grinder that often. Maybe once a year, or a couple of times a year if you’re a heavier smoker. You’ll know when it’s time to give it a clean when it starts getting harder to turn the cog. Just apply the procedure above when that happens and you’re good to go. Remember not to use water to clean your grinder. You don’t want to rust it out and water’s not very good at cleaning them anwyay.
Crushing and Breaking Up Your Weed
This is the primary reason we use weed grinders. If you try to use big chunky bits of bud in your joints then they won’t burn as well, and you’ll end up getting much less bang for your buck since a lot of the pot will go to waste. Really sticky buds, ie, GOOD buds are the hardest to break up and this is why it really pays off to buy a top quality weed grinder rather than just a cheap plastic grinder. A good grinder with really sharp teeth will manage to grind up even super sticky buds so you can get a great smoke, every time.
